Hey guys!
Wow, the holidays were amazing and I cannot believe it's 2011!!! I have so much to catch all of you up on, but let me start with us spending New Year's in the hospital.
There was this way tufts party at this hopping place called "Parakeet Street". It was so happening, practically every owl of Harrisburd was there! B.B. had brought in some special new year's cupcakes (they had this really sparkly frosting, I must have had ten of them!) and Josie had made her famous Acai berry punch! I even saw Mabel Hoo, ZuZu and Jane-- they were fashionably late of course, like 11:45-- and they had the most festive outfits on. They really know how to ring in the new year.
Anyway, it was getting close to midnight and we were flapping our wings on the dance floor (Meg had taught us some new moves, I think everyone was really impressed), and Beatrix noticed this gorgeous feather ball that was ready to drop at midnight. It must have been about 20 feet high.
Well, Beatrix got the idea to somehow jump on the ball as it's counting down. We tried to talk her out of it, but she kept saying there was "no better way to ring in the new year".
She got on there some how, and at about seven seconds to midnight she fell right off. It was awful! I saw the look on her face the same time I heard an awful "snap". She had fractured a wing!
Cut to us in the hospital. The three of us were with her in her room, not loving the idea that we had to spend New Years in the hospital.
We were just about to start snacking on some jello (that the hospital had given us) when Dr. Sully walked in.
Dreeeeeeamy! He was extremely handsome, kind of the rugged type. He had really nice feathers and all four of us couldn't take our eyes off of him. He set Beatrix's wing and put a cast on it. He was so smart, oh and funny too! After he left Beatrix kept trying to rub in that he touched her wing, but we reminded her it was only because he had to. I mean, he's a doctor.
A little later another doctor came in, Dr. Perphekt. It was a nice surprise to see two extremely handsome doctors in one night! Dr. P was just as good looking as Dr. S, only Dr. P was less rugged and more clean cut. Thank goodness he came in the room, because right when I saw him I realized I had a little pain in my wing. Dr. P checked it out and said it was nothing, although I don't think he really got a chance to check it out thoroughly because all of a sudden Meg and Sug conveniently got mysterious pains as well...
We noticed a few other new doctors as well. I guess they just got a whole new batch in from some good looking doctor school, hehe.
After they set her cast Beatrix was finally ready to go. On the way out we all made sure to schedule our own appointments, you know, just to check up and make sure we're all healthy.
We checked out the commissary on our way out. We grabbed some coffee for the road and got to meet the new coffee Barista, Josh, who was, as Beatrix pointed out, also very cute.
Not the way we had planned to spend New Year's, but it ended up being a pretty good one anyway! We found this article in the paper the next morning.
Beatrix gets her cast off next week.
